The principal of Wehrman Investigative Engineering, Joel D. Wehrman, PE has been practicing engineering since he graduated from the Missouri University of Science and Technology in 1983. Following nine years of engineering in the nuclear and coal-fired power industries, he started working with a fellow S&T alumni in the forensic engineering field. Working independently since 2012, Wehrman Investigative Engineering specializes in all types of failure and damage evaluations. Virtually any type of failure evaluation is within our purview including structural damage, moisture intrusion, mold/mildew, roofing damage, swimming pool failures, thermal window failures, blast vibration damage, lightning, impacts, or flooring damages. We have extensive experience in evaluating tornadoes from EF0 to EF5, and we have evaluated hundreds of coastal homes damaged by hurricanes. With extensive experience in evaluating nearly 10,000 buildings, we are able to quickly and correctly diagnose the situation and provide our clients with the root cause and extent of the damages. Our evaluation reports are usually supplemented with photographs, CAD drawings and references to authoritative sources of information to make the conclusions more easily understood by the client and by interested lay-persons. We can also develop repair plans for the damages and have extensive experience in foundation underpinning repair plans in particular.
Mr. Wehrman obtained his first professional engineer license in 1990 and is currently licensed to practice engineering in Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Tennessee.
Mr. Wehrman has testified as an expert witness more than 200 times and has been recognized as an expert in forensic engineering in the federal court system as well as in Alabama, Mississippi and Florida state circuit court systems.
